It was a cold and windy day but 23 showed up for our meeting at Acapulco Mexican Restaurant in Newton. Jerry Dunn, Treasurer,
opened the meeting by making a motion that no one should have to stand up to speak. The motion carried.
Larry Adams, Director, asked for updates on the plans for 4th of July weekend. Jr. Hester, Regional Director, said he checked with
Harvey County and was told to use an electric hookup at the park is $14. It is $8 for camping away from hookups. There are no
reservations and no day charges. We will do the Park City Parade on Saturday, July 2nd, go to lunch and have a meeting at Newell’s
Truck Stop in Newton, and then the ones that want to go on to Harvey County Lake and Park will do that. There are no plans for
specific activities but it was suggested a ride and lunch would be nice on Sunday.
Larry introduced Kenneth & Carol Harpool and Andrew Bersch, new members this month, and David Foster, new member from last month.
Linda Dunn, Activities Coordinator, said she has contacted a couple of places regarding offering rides but hasn’t heard back. She asked
for suggestions if this is something people want to do. Dan Seely, State Historian, said he has gone to Comcare the last couple of years to
give rides and was asked to come back and Kenneth Harpool suggested the VA Hospital. Bill Taber, Co-Road Captain, said the Southern
Care Hospice asks for 72 hours notice for rides so we should be able to work out something there. He continued that the man he gave a ride
to 7 weeks ago is still with us and was very appreciative of the ride and attention. Dan asked about the Shelly Androes Ride that was
canceled last month and Linda will follow up on that to see if it’s been rescheduled.
Linda passed out fliers for the ECK bar-b-q which is Saturday the 21st in Ottawa. Several indicated they would be going.
Wayne mentioned the Nebraska State Trike-In the end of July and said they would be going.
Bill said he talked to a man who is partners in cabins at Turner Falls, OK and found out we can use those cabins any time we want.
With no other business to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
