Open Prairie Trikers
2010 Trikeabout Weekend
Wichita, KS
August 13, 14, 15
In spite of scorching heat, we had a great turnout for our first Open Prairie Trikers Weekend. We started the event with
a meet and greet at the Park City Express Inn where most of our out of town guests were staying. The hotel
graciously allowed us to use their breakfast room for our gathering. Sarah Eck coordinated sandwich makings, chips, fruit,
cookies, ice tea, etc., for us to enjoy while visiting. Wayne Eck brought maps and the plans for the weekend.
Saturday morning, we met at Spangles, in Park City, and rode to Halstead for a parade. After the parade, we rode to
Sedgwick for lunch at Cye's. A vist to Cowtown, in Wichita, was scheduled for the afternoon and several went and had
a good time. Others headed for air conditioning and a rest. Saturday evening, we met at OJ Watson Park for a picnic.
Larry and Darlene Adams Provided and cooked the meats while the rest of the OPT members provided side dishes and
desserts. We were supposed to have an evening ride through Old Town and stop by the Keeper Of The Plains. However,
Mother Nature intervened and we didn't do the ride.
Sunday morning we met at Braums, in Park City, for breakfast and a discussion of how the weekend had gone. We decided
to do it again next year and have different events. The typical trike-in is the same events, the same weekend every year. The
trikeabout would be something different each time.
