Meeting Minutes
Sunday, October 8, 2011
El Dorado Bella Casa Restaurant
A beautiful day for a ride brought 34 members and guests to El Dorado for our monthly
meeting. Those present were: Georgie & Ray Miller, James & Lynette Smith, Linda &
Jerry Dunn, Larry Adams, David Foster, Steve Lyon, Dwight & Lutda Rix, Kenny Flowers,
Ros Snyder, Wayne & Sarah Eck, Pete & Kathy Walter, Sonny & Jodi Suskey, Gary &
Linda Harris, Jr. & Debra Hester, Dan Seely, Bob & Charlotte Primm, Curtis, Theresa &
Amanda Burnham, Robert Harris, Christe Kitlen, Larry & Diana Mount and Bill Taber.
James Smith, Sergeant at Arms, brought the meeting to order.
Linda Dunn, Secretary/Activities Coordinator, passed out a list of parades and toy runs
covering the next couple of months. The Haven Parade which we were scheduled to do
on October 8th, has changed it rules about throwing candy, doing wheelies, and revving of
engines so she suggested doing the Maize Parade instead. By a show of hands, it was
unanimous to do the Maize Parade. We will meet at 119th and Central, in Maize, at
9:15 Saturday morning. The parade starts at 10 am.
The next parade on the list is Haysville, on October 15th. We are to meet at the Word
of Life Church on Grand, in Haysville, at 8 am. Once we are checked in we will go to our
place in line for the parade, which starts at 9 am.
November 6th is the Annual Wichita Toy Run. We will meet at Spangles at Broadway &
Kellogg between 9:30 and 10:00 and move to Lawrence Dumont Stadium Parking Lot by
10:30. Anyone coming later will not be able to be with us in the ride -- we will be lined up
bumper to bumper, side to side. The ride to the Coliseum starts at 1 pm. Bring new, unwrapped
gift.
Other toy runs coming up are Hutchinson, McPherson and Wellington. Not a lot of interest at
this time to do those.
The Sunday morning motorcycle breakfast runs are ending this month. 1st Sunday is Cassaday,
2nd Sunday is Potwin, Beaumont and Burlingame, and 3rd Sunday is Cheney, Marquette, Elk City,
and Cottonwood Falls.
Jerry Dunn gave his Treasury Report. We paid $57.50 to BTW for our part of the Internet Web
charges. We paid $10.73 for stamps for recent post cards mailed. We passed the hat and got
$69.59 which brings our total to $349.83.
Wayne Eck, State Director, talked about The Chill, which is a huge car and motorcycle show in
February. He would like as many of us that can to put our trikes in the show this time. It costs
$30 per trike, and that gets you 2 arm bands that are good for the 3 days to come and go. Several
of the guys seemed interested so we'll talk about it again as we get closer.
Sarah Eck, State Newsletter Editor, talked about the BTW Christmas Party in December. It is
in Emporia, at the VFW, and this year the gift exchange will be to bring something from home that
you don't want, and it has to be in good shape and working.
Larry Adams, Chapter Director, said he was sorry he hadn't been able to do much this year as the
director due to his health. He credited Linda and Jerry Dunn for all their work keeping things
moving along. He hopes his health, and getting a trike finished, will allow him to do more next year.
Bill Taber said he had been to the doctor for a cat-scan a couple of weeks ago. He has a 3 1/4 inch
aneurism on his aorta. His doctor told him he would not survive anesthesia or the surgery and has
30 minutes to 5 years survival.
With no other new or old business to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
