Larry Adams, 3 guests
Larry Adams, Director, opened the meeting by saying he didn't have much to talk about today but felt we needed
to meet anyway. He said we needed to be thinking about ideas for what we want to do next year. One idea that
Linda has is to rotate through our members having individuals or small groups come up with something to do,
or some place to take a short ride to.
Wayne Eck, State Director, talked about the upcoming BTW State Christmas Party in Emporia, December 3rd.
There will be a short state meeting and he said state elections are next year so nominations are being taken for
all positions. Some people will not be running again for their current positions so think about who would be
good. More information available later.
Wayne also talked about The Chill, which will be in February at the Kansas Coliseum grounds. He still thinks
it will be a good idea. (See previous meeting minutes for details.) He said even if the buildings sell, there are others
who will continue the events at different locations. This year there will be 1 or 2 trophies for trikes. If we have
a good showing and want to do this next year, there will be trophies for different categories of trikes.
Wayne told us about short videos he is working on to promote triking and asked if there is anyone in our group
who would want to do this for our chapter. He recently bought a program for editing videos and is having fun
playing with it. He has put some on YouTube and suggested we take a look.
Sarah talked about the newsletter. She has one finished and the next one is almost done. She thanked those who have
helped her with articles and reminded us to keep information coming to her for future publication.
Sarah told us the Christmas Party is December 3rd and will be catered. It is $10 each and you can pay at the door
IF you tell her or Deb Hester you are coming. They prefer that you pay in advance if you know for sure you
are going. The party is at the Emporia VFW, 932 Graphic Arts Rd, where it's been for the last several years.
Information is in the current newsletter. Again we are supporting Camp Alexander. This year they have asked
for sporting equipment so if you can, bring something to the party for them. She also said that there will probably
be leftover meat for breakfast if you're interested. She will decide later and let everyone know.
Ken Harpool suggested we do something for the Cerebral Palsy Ranch that is supported by the Jr. Chamber of
Commerce. They are about to go under and it would be nice if we could give rides. They are located between
Augusta and Towanda. He will get more information and contact Linda Dunn.
Dan Seely reported that the man Bill Tabor and Caveman gave a ride to, earlier this year, is on his last days and
asked that after he passes, if we could deliver his ashes to Ark City.
Jim Claypool has ashes of his brother Bob, who passed earlier this year, in sealed bottles if anyone still wants them.
Some trikers are attaching them to their trikes.
Jerry Dunn, Treasurer, gave his report. He had $319.38 and expenses of $8.99 for stamps this month. We collected
$29.90 when we passed the hat so we're at $340.29.
Wayne talked about a couple of impromptu rides he, Sarah, Pete and Kathy did this last year. They would call people
on short notice and see who wanted to go. Linda and Jerry went once and they ended up in Wellington having lunch
at a 50's diner. The next time they tried this, they went over to Bob Primm's but he wasn't home. So, they visited
with Charlotte for awhile. Linda said they had a lot of fun and sometimes this is better than trying to plan something.
Jerry said he and Linda had gone out to Dodge City (in their truck) on the spur of the moment and had a good evening
at the casino.
Next meeting: January 8, 2012, 3PM, New China Buffet, South Broadway at 47th Street. If you want to eat, please
go before 3 so you can be seated and ready to start the meeting on time.
