BTW Kansas State Trike-In

                                     September 9-11, 2011

                                         Emporia, KS

The State Trike-In was great this year, as always.  Friday afternoon we rode to Veterans Memorial Park

in Emporia which is dedicated to the military who have served our country.  We use this setting to honor

our triker members who have passed away.  Stories and memories are shared so that all of us will know

something of those who used to ride with us.  Our most recent loss is Bob Claypool, who passed away

this summer.

Friday evening we had a hotdog dinner with chili, salads, chips and a variety of desserts.  We played a

game based on The Newly Wed Game, only it was called Not So Newly Wed.  Four couples were chosen

based on how long they had been married.  The men were sent outside while the women were asked questions

the men had to match answers to.  Then the women were sent out and the men were asked questions.  Jay

and Anne Anderson won with the most questions answered the same. Their prize was door prize tickets to

be used Saturday night.  A few tough trikers braved a thunderstorm to make the obligatory Braums ice

cream run to end the evening.

Saturday morning we participated in the annual street fair.  We had a city block to set up our trikes in

categories based on engines and body.  Then we voted on which ones we like out of each group.  Key chain

medals are presented at the end of the show.

Several people went to lunch at a local Mexican Restaurant, then back to Camp Alexander to line up for

the Fun Run (poker run).  Following the run, trike games were played on the lawn.

The evening meal was fried chicken which was catered and all the fixings which were provided by our members.

We also had fun with the results of the silent auction and drawings for the door prizes.

State Director, Wayne Eck, talked a few minutes about his vision for our future.  He said with the increased use

of social networks, like FaceBook, and You Tube, we should think about sharing more pictures, videos, and

stories about BTW.  He encouraged us to write about what we are doing and submit for publication to the

newsletter and the magazine.  He also said to be careful to not put anyone in a bad light -- think about the picture

you are submitting and what you are saying.  Wayne gave special "you've been noticed" awards to Jody Susky, Ros

Snyder and Bill Taber for their continued support and involvement with BTW.

Sunday morning was the fellowship and breakfast.  John Privett, Director of ECK, was in charge of the service and

used this opportunity to play a Bible trivia game based on Jeopardy.  He had worked for months gathering information

and for the ones who were there, it was not only fun, but educational and good for the soul.

Pictures to follow.
